June 10th Review & HW
BRING A #2 PENCIL and BLUE SCANTRON SHEET to tomorrow’s class. These are required for taking the exam and I will not be providing them for you.
Blog/HW: Using our course website, view and comment on three of your classmates’ blogs, looking at the review post from this weekend. Looks for entries on stories other than the one you analyzed.

Be Prepared To:
1. Discuss the author and relevant biographical information
2. Analyze these stories in terms of the formal elements defined in class: plot, narrator, character, point of view, theme, symbol, irony, tone, style, setting, etc.
3. Know the definitions of the elements as well as extended vocabulary associated with these terms.
4. Analyze and interpret the short stories
Also, review the discussion of Literary Theories. Be prepared to discuss their main concerns.
The exam will be divided into three parts:
1. Multiple Choice: 2 pts. each
2. Short Answer (few words, 2-3 sentences): 5pts. each
3. Essay (1 page): 25 pts.
You will be given a few essay prompts. You will only need to choose one.
I recommend revisiting your notes to see what topics we discussed on more than one occasion. Also, it might be helpful for you to become very familiar with a couple of short stories in particular. Certainly review all definitions, as they play a key role in our discussions and ability to analyze texts.
